View Full Version : Let's rate the Private directors!!
Hello Guys,
What about rating the directors? I'd like to know your opinion about the people providing with the quality to Private. The max score is 10 (means super fucking brilliant), the minimum is 0 (sucks, should keep his/her hands away from the camera or should be sent back to the film school).
Tanya Hyde 10/10 (she's my winner)
JF Romagnoli 8/10
Anita Rinaldi 7,5/10
Antonio Adamo 7/10
Gazzman 7/10
Frank Thring 7/10
Alessandro del Mar 7/10
Susi Medusa 6,5/10
JY Lecastel 6/10
Xavi Dominguez 6/10
JM Ponce 6/10 (just because of Faust, otherwise would get a 4 for Fetish Garden)
Kovi 5/10
Pierre Woodman 5/10 (many of you will be angry with me).
So, I am waiting for your scores!!
Taka care,
Adam

I'd put Adamo and Romagnoli at the top, though I confess I still have to see a Rinaldi movie.
Adam, you've teased us with a controversial rating for Woodman, and it would be interesting to know your reasoning. I think there's almost a case for two entries for Woodman, as he gave us two styles of product: (i) his high-profile, on-location feature film series and (ii) his more 'gonzo' type of stuff in the 'Castings' and 'Superfuckers' series.
For me, Alessandro Del Mar has yet to make a big impression, and I await 'Millionaire' with interest as he's been given that project and I know that it's an important one ("this year's 'cockbuster'", as Madboy explained).
Gazzman blew me away with 'Hot Property' and he deserves a high rating on the strength of that movie alone.
'Sex Angels' has been made a flagship title, and although Dominguez has an entertaining stab at it, serving up some very raunchy scenes, I'd have liked to have seen a director on that one who's capable of a little more gloss and post-production panache. I still prefer Nic Cramer's 'Operation Sex Siege' as a Private movie in the 'Guns and Rough Sex' genre (though maybe Ivy Crystal was a little underused!)
A really exciting development, I think, is a contribution to the Private range by acclaimed American director Michael Raven. I've just seen his new release 'Delilah'. The star is adorable and the production values are high. If Raven is going to do more work for Private, he'd be picking up on the trend for high-end American gloss started by Michael Ninn.
I kind of miss the tips and snippets of advance info. that Madboy used to thread into our discussions, keeping us on our toes. Is there anyone on the Private on-line team who could keep up that sort of work with us?
Hi Bask,
As for Woodman I have to confess that I saw some film of him quite a long ago (perhaps from the gold series) and I was not realy impressed. The sex scenes are out question hard and show everything that a porn fan need. However, as you may see from my ratings, I prefer stylish films with sophisticated photgrapy, editing, styling, make ups and of course beautiful girls. I mean not necessarily a high budget film like Gladitor but I hate shots eg. in cheap hotel rooms with an ugly decoration. But this rating reflects of course the my personal taste.
Unfortunately I haven't seen a Nic Cramer film, neither Gazzman's Hot Property nor Michael Raven's Delilah. I think they will be fine.

Interesting topic. Adamo may well be my favourite, but only the Adamo who brought us such gems as Fashion, Italian Flair and Eve Insane Obsession. He entered a rather uninspired period toward the end of his tenure at Private: movies like Big Member found him simply going through the motions, and there's an incredibly frustrating use of a post-production "black and white blur" effect that robs his fuck-scenes of any heat. I started to tire of seeing a five second glimpse of bare flesh inbetween all the tricksiness. I also grew tired of the way that every scene began with the same camera move: a slow pan across a room. Usually the same room. Sometimes with the same girls. It begins to get really noticeable when you jump to scenes using the scene menu.
On form, however, Adamo was unbeatable, marrying high-end fashion house aesthetics with genuinely arousing sex. More than anything, he knew how to make his girls look gorgeous. Private's harem of starlets never looked more beautiful than in an Adamo production. He certainly had the best make-up team in the business.
I'm also a huge fan of Woodman. He could occasionally be uninspired (there's a sameiness to some of his entries in the Triple X series) but there was always a special frisson in hitting 'Play' on a new Woodman release. He could always be relied on to parade hot new sluts before us, and usually they were stunners who you could never quite believe were taking tool.
More than that, there was a uniquely dark vibe to Woodman's world, an almost unsettling sense that he was enjoying a powerplay as he filmed his beautiful young discoveries fucking, exhibiting their bodies for our pleasure. When you watch a Woodman movie it's as if you're in a pact with him, a very male pact... You become complicit with the leering eye of the filmmaker and the woman is very definitely an object. This may unease some, but there's an arousing element in this. Woodman could always be relied upon to show us every inch of the girl, and had a gift for making the arses of his young euro-tarts look particularly inviting.
I've only seen one del Mar and found it very bland and vanilla. That kind of pleasant, sunlit porn does nothing for my dick. Frank Thring's work varied - some of it was brilliant (his Broken Dreams entry in the Pirate series) but there's a Benny Hill/ British music hall side to him that I'm not so keen on. Kovi's probably the director who frustrates me the most. I avoid his overpainted fetish stuff (it almost feels like a gay man's idea of heterosexual porn, though I assume Kovi is straight) and what I've seen of his non-fetish stuff always feels like a wasted opportunity. The camera never seems to be in quite the place you want it to be. Pity, as I thought Lethal Information showed great promise, and made the best of such talent as Grety and Diana.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Susi Medusa, Gazzman and the new wave of directors bring to the Private mix. In my heart, however, I'd love to see Private make up with the mighty Woodman...

i watched rubberfuckers rule and twisted dreams last night .tanya hyde is the top director 10/10 . although a warning should be added about the strobing effects in hell whores and high heels .tanya makes one hell of a sexy movie. the editing is so exciting .
frank thring 7-8/10 . perversions of the damned -good story .harmony grant in top sexiness . The Club -to much pixelation in the sex scenes although still red hot .
kovi .6-7/10 the scenes tend to be too long ( the newscaster scene in sex and magic for instance ) but love the way he uses michelle wild .

Couls someone tell me a film directed by Anita Rinaldi, as I'm not sure I've seen any of her work?
Thanks :)

and I would go with Tayna Hyde and Antonio Adamo as my top two, although Antonio has dropped in value since the penthouse pics (in my opinion)

1) Pierre Woodman
2) Antonio Adamo
3) Susi Medusa Gottardi
and let Alessandro del Mar continue doing the Tropicals.
The rest I don't care about, though I'm curious of this Conrad Son who is doing the next 3-part super-production--if he is any good.
Little Al is kind of amusing, and Xavi Dominguez has done some good shorts.
But if Private has #'s 1 & 2 working for them (#3 has yet to prove herself), as now seems the case, it'll have the best in porn. So the future of Private looks bright indeed to me.
Keep John Palmer and Kevin Maklin and S&S Tranceworks doing the mags.
Let Romagnoli & Gazzman & Xavi Dominguez help Alessandro out with the filler hack-work (what Kovi used to do single-handedly!). I won't complain.
Just as long as I get plenty of Woodman & Adamo & SMG.
Flashboy's critique was excellent, pretty much mirroring my own sentiments.
Hello Guys,
sorry for not having given sign of life for a long time. Well, I'd like to update this topic by adding some more Private directors.
First I have to upgrade Gazzman to 8/10, after having seen all of his Private movies I find him really great. I am afraid he does no more movies to Private.
And the rest:
Michael Ninn: 8/10, he's excellent, shame that after few (practically two) movies he left Private but his own company has distibutes his films everywhere(unfortunately not in Hungary)!!
Barry Wood: 5/10, although he works with Ninn, he has to learn a lot.
Skeeter Kerkove: 4/10, not really my stuff, but I think many porn fans like what he does.
Axel Braun: 2/10, the worst I have seen from Private
Marc Lelong: 5/10, his scenes remind me the good old Woodman
Little Al: 6/10, nice photgraphy and average sex
Tom Herold: 6,5/10, the same like Little Al but better videography.
Cheers!!

Woodman: 8/10, my fave director, he defined the style for Private, top-models who do anal
Kovi: 6/10, always nice settings and casts but lack of distinctive style
Adamo: 6/10, his first videos were good (Fashion) but much less inspired in his last
Thring: 5/10, hit or miss, some of his Pirate videos are good though
Del Mar: 5/10, try too much to imitate his master Salieri
Gazzman: 4/10, he should not forget he is shooting porn, not mainstream

A more objective way to rate the directors might be to number the feature-length movies Private awarded them:
56-Pierre Woodman (106 if we count the Casting X)
40-Antonio Adamo
36-Kovi
29-Frank Thring
22-Jean-Yves Lecastel
19-Alessandro del Mar
9-Cristophe Clark, John Millerman
7-J.F.Romagnoli
6-Gazzman, Steve Perry
5-Xavi Dominguez, Skeeter Kerkove, Suzi Medusa, Nic Cramer, Francois Clousot
4-Tanya Hyde
3-Jane Waters, Max Steiner
2- Michael Ninn, Michel Ricaud, Jurgen Wolf, J.M.Ponce, Hooper&Sergio
1-Michael Raven, Kim Jason, Tom Herold, Barry Wood, Axel Braun, Anita Rinaldi
My caveats: Ricaud died suddenly; SMG has only begun; and Kovi's inflated score may have more to do with a conveniently located factory studio (Luxx) than that director's (artistic) talent. Otherwise I like this system.
