View Full Version : Member Username Origins ...
Hey Dudes & Dudesses,
was wondering about the origins of some of the usernames in our bodacious Private Forum community. For example, what's the story behind Nerdgirl (looks too hot for a nerd!), rikkytawn, Dutchy (Greek by any chance?), kooch (loves grass?), ommadawn (a real mystery to me), lemonaid (heir to the Coca Cola empire?), Flyer (Prez of Mile High Club?), Madboy (Alfred E Neuman?), nobilise (gent extraordinaire?), Flashboy (inventer of the flash light?), baskkk2003 (spent 2003 sunbathing?), Bram (King of the Vampires?) & mister_roberts (one of my fav films).
Then there's the enigmatic and mysterious ones like Fiona and GregandSarah whom we all know and love.
Cummon, tell us your story.
I'll start off to break the ice. Bawdy was my nickname at school and also the name of one of the other porn mags I was exposed to in my formative years (wish I still had a few copies).
What about your username :?:
Curious Bawdy 8)
PS. Forgive me if I didn't list your username, there are 231 now, but feel free to take this opportunity to introduce yourself.
ommadawn

Ommadawn-a beautiful 1975 lp by Mike Oldfield, (also means idiot in Gallic, I
think!)

'bask' was my nickname at school, too. the 'a' is pronounced as in 'cat' and 'hat'.
i entered my user-name for the forum in the same (extended) form as created for my 2003 yahoo e-mail address.
cheers.
Dutchy

I think it's simple why I have chosen the name Dutchy.
I'm from the Netherlands. So my nationality is Dutch.
When I'm outside the country people sometime call me Dutchy.
Flashboy

Flashboy -a nod to the song Killing Of A Flashboy by Suede.
nerdgirl

Nerdgirl. When I was younger, I was the biggest nerd ever with my glasses and short bowl haircut that looked like a boy. To top it all off, I was in the gifted kids classes. Well, then I broke my glasses, got contacts and turned into the lovely young lady that you all know and love. But I still have a nerdy side to me... programming websites and gadget geek. Therefore, I am still NERDGIRL - the all powerful and mighty!

ommadawn is Irish (Gaelic) for idiot, or eejet as we say!! But your spelling is not the Irish way - the actual spelling is amadán but it is pronounced as you write it.
And Fiona, well that is just Fiona :D
kooch
02-23-2004, 05:49 PM
Kooch is the phonetic short form of my name and also my nickname.
It means pussy in arabic as well, who knew?
SolidSnake
02-24-2004, 11:54 PM
Comes from a popular console game (tactic, spy) from Konami Japan called Metal Gear Solid.
The name of the main character/spy is SolidSnake.
rikkytawn
02-26-2004, 02:42 PM
Rikkytaun means the town of Rikky but I prefer to write "taun" not "town" and Rikky is a short name of Richard, of course, my name.
And if you pronounce as a a Spanish gipsy its "arrikkytaun" and its funny.
Wow, thanks for sharing all your stories, gives Bawdy a warm and fuzzy feeling inside :D

Thanks Kooch, I'm learning Arabic at the moment and will add it to my list, hope it will not get me into too much trouble :!:

[Bram [/i](King of the Vampires?)
What about your username :?:
Funny, that a lot of nicknames have an origin at (high)school. Bram is
indeed my school nickname. I am really no King of the Vampires, although
I am really a fan of Bram Stoker and his Dracula story. Maybe a good
scenario for a Pirate movie. I always get wildest erotic images when I think
of the 3 female vampires in this Dracula movie.

I really would like to meet you and have a technical discussion on building
web sites, I am a computer scientist! I am very impressed by the technical
quality of the Private web sites. Although I am a bit disappointed in the
focus on Internet Explorer! There are other browsers: Mozilla, Opera, etc.
in this electronic world, maybe a minor point of improvement!

Nerdgirl,
do you have Sylvia Saint on your PDA :?: If so, what are the games like :?:

Thanks for satisfying some of my curiosity, but what about Cowlam, SbandoBoy, komakeule, enter5454 or anyone else who would like to spin a good yarn?

mantamagic

Mines a bit boring compared to you glamourous lot.
I am a car nut as well as a computer geek.
Used to love an old car from the eighties called the Opel Manta.
There was a movie about this particular car in it's rally hay days called Manta Magic.
When struggling to find a suitable name for my hotmail account (did'nt want to be rbrown1977@hotmail.com) I thought why not see if mantamagic was available. It was, and ever since I have used this as my email and sign on name.

........my username is a tribute to a movie character.
In Quentin Tarantino´s debut film "Reservoir Dogs" Harvey Keitel played the role of Mr. White.
Since this is still one of my all time favorite movies, I often chose Mr_White as username.

Thought you might be a fellow diver, mantas are amazing creatures. Never got that car in Australia but the rear end looks a little like my first car, the Holden (Opel?) Torana, a classic Aussie car, some models had small slits on the side like gills which made it resemble a shark.

Nightfly
07-25-2004, 05:48 PM
I chose my name for a couple of reasons: 1) I am fascinated with fireflies/nightflies because of the way they can light up and glow like they're electric (and I've always enjoyed them on a warm Summer's evening, watching them buzzing about), and 2) because of one of my favorite Blank & Jones dance tracks, "The Nightfly." 3) I am often up all night and don't sleep at all or only for a few hours a day (no, I am not on drugs  lol). I am a "night person," I suppose.
Hence...Nightfly! http://fool.exler.ru/sm/inc.gif
Thanks & Welcome Nightfly,
don't get fireflies here in Australia but I do remember being fascinated by them when I was in Indiana one summer.
Welcome again,
