Reading Adam's latest post reminded me of how some of my favourite directors started off as performers, like JY Lacastel & Denis Marti. Now more male performers are getting into the act such as Tony Ribas, Steve Holmes and David Perry (who is doing some great work at the moment). I think these guys have the edge because they are "so intimate with the material" (lucky bastards!). Maybe Private should give some of their performers a go like Zenza Raggi or Sandra Iron? Laura Angel sounds promising ...

You're right Bawdy. These guys can do excellent movies, the only thing they need to make a quality product is a good photographer and editor. See Anita Rinaldi (she used to be a very popular porn actress in Italy) with Alex Martini (JF Romagnoli's cameraman), the result is unquestionable.
