This display of Private stars is still there. The establishment in question is called 'Sex Palace' and it is indeed close by to The Cassa Rosso Theatre in Amsterdam's Oz. Achterburgwal. The canalside walkways are currently being repaved and unfortunately the monumental phallus fountain seems to have been removed.
