View Full Version : Private on Location

Greetings all,

I'm a bit of a movie trivia buff (one of those dudes that has to stay in the cinema at the end of the movie to read all the credits, sad I know!) and I was wondering if any of you have ever recognised any of the locations used in any of the Private productions, especially our members from Europe. I recently spent some time vacationing on the Great Barrier Reef where they filmed much of the Fugitive and recognised a few locations. What about anyone else? Dutchy? Adam? Sbandoboy? Any others?

Hi Bawdy,

Yes, I recognised many Hungarian locations especially in Jean Yves Lecastel's movies, because he likes shooting the streets of Budapest with the public transport (buses, trams, Hungarian immatriculations on cars). You can also see that many times that the landscape, the houses, the gardens are situated in Hungary although you don't know exactly where they are. Often the interior design of flats where the film is shot is tipically Hungarian (see Kovi and Lecastel).
JF Romagnoli and A. Adamo work also in Hungary but they shoot always in houses and rifurbish everything according to their fine Italian taste, which does - in my mind - the movie good.

Thanks for the info Adam. I've managed to find out some of the hotels that the directors use when they stay in Budapest, think I'll ask for the Woodman suite next spring

Hi Bawdy,

Recently I saw Soccer Girl, I saw that stadium in which the film was shot (of course in Hungary) was an infamous one. An enterpreneur had built it some years ago in small village (in his home village) and they also had a team that does not exist any longer. The guy's name is Joseph Stadler and he made his fortune with tax fraduing. He had been sent to prison and came out 2 years ago if I remember correctly. However the stadium is out of work and probably the minimum maintenace work is done but not more. So it was funny to see the writing HAJRÁ STADLER (Let's go Stadler).

Well, that's the story. Take care,

Adam

Adam,

thanks for that fun info, I love trivia like that. I hear they are building a huge mainstream film studio not far from Budapest. Maybe we might start seeing some of our favourite Hungarian babes appearing in some blockbusters soon, like say the next Van Helsing, that would be great :o
