The first scene was on a beach somewhere and it was shot at night. Ah Van, yes I certainly remember that scene, another one of my favourites :!: Those early Tripple XXX Video Magazines are classics, it's great to see them coming out on DVD. I remember seeing an interview with Woodman in XXX where he is asked what he wants to do in the future, forget the rest of it but he says he will make a few more films for Private etc, well he went on to do more than just a few :!: I think he directed alot of stuff for XXX Magazine but some is also credited to others that were making films at the time like Nic Cramer etc. I think Woodman also did alot of the photosets at the time. These days I get the impression Private "outsources" alot of their stuff for the mags, many of the photosets being credited to various studios like Metropole etc. I think there is a definite difference between the Woodman and post-Woodman era of Private, opinions about which being a matter of taste. At least Woodman is still out there producing stuff (not like the retired porn stars we pine for like Anita, Cecile, Julia, Demia ...). It would be nice to see him return, but at the moment I'm happy with having more stuff to choose from.

i feel quite nostalgiac for 'the woodman era' of private video. there were always other directors for private, of course, but woodman set the standard. there were fewer video ranges than today - we had 'private video magazine', then 'triple x' and 'private stories' as well as the classic feature-length films - so i think, as private fans, we were all getting off on the same material as each other to a greater extent than is the case now.
these days, as you say, bawdy, there is more diversification and choice within the private fold, which is a good thing in the sense that a wider range of tastes is catered for. we each have our own preferred stars, styles, genres and directors.
but we also have the joys of private 'retro' - with all those classic shorts now being released on dvd, for us to revisit...

Yeah, I have to agree with you bask. I find myself 'going retro' more and more, like buying the Fugitive 1 & 2 on DVD. I'm lucky my local has all the XXX, Private Stories and Video Magazine classics which I hire occasionally.
