After reading Audry 24's idea for a Private museum, I had the urge to look at the early editions of Private. I was taken back into time and I became facinated with the founder of Private, Berth Milton Snr's struggle with the censors of the day. At the time he founded Private in 1965, he was likely one of the boldest publishers of erotic material, especially when comparing Private's content to other mainstream adult entertainment such as Playboy.

I do not have any early photos from Playboy but from what I can recall the naked models had more of a closed posture revealing pubic hair and bare breasts whereas Berth's models revealed open leg poses which highlighted the lovely contours of their cunts and asses. Pictures 1 and 2 show Sylvia, the first Private model to grace the pages of Private 1 followed by a picture of Lill.










It was difficult to be precise with some of the historical facts because many of the archives had missing content (see picture below) but it appears that Private 2 featured similar content to that of edition 1. Advertisements featured the sales of slides and photos rather than DvDs

In the same article, Berth submits a challenge to the censors by showing arguably his most revealing photo yet of a model riding a cock.

By the time Private 9 was published, momentum swung in Berth's favour and as a result he published Layla as the first hard core model of Private.

Finally, Berth seemingly retired from the business in the early nineties and passed the Private banner to his son, Berth Jr. Berth senior passed away in 2005.
