I thought there could be a thread about this perhaps.

My thoughts so far:

1. Why is the shop so cramped horisontally? Looks like it is only about 800pixels wide.
Still www.dvdadultempire.com isnt much wider but it doesn't "feel" as cramped.

2. The front page has a sense of in "your face" with lots of menues. For example four menubuttons for downloads and streaming while DVD and BluRay has to share one?
Vertical sides has menues with unclear structure or context.For example there is a selection of private stars in the browse menu, but what about other private stars? is there a category for this?

3. You should probably explain to potential buyers the different categories of Private brands in the store somehow. What does Specials, Private Gold or Private Blockbuster mean?

4. Right now and generalizing a bit the store feels a bit like a "generic" store that just list private movies. Hard to explain why but perhaps this will change with time. I would like a Private "skin" and a Generic adult store "Skin" to choose from in my own perfect world.

Hopefully there is a lot still to come with the new store and this is just comments taken as it stands today.

I found the new format, use by Private VOD as compared to the old Private Shop, to be less user-friendly. I was attempting to order video downloads, either by DivX or iTunes and the system seems to make locating the desired videos less easy to find. Once found, one must make certain they are ordering the video in the correct format. I suspect there will be a number of system bugs which must be worked out.

The new design is nice, BUT

the search function is bad.
(solution a label or studio filter)

The new site looks like a prefabricated template that is also used for many other vod-sites. I think this is Private unworthly, and I hope you will change back to the privatespeed and privateshop sites to end this experiment.

What happened with the trailers and images for each DVD?
This was where Private standed out from the competition...
Now its all back to dvd cover and some small unreadable thumbs for the scenes..

Keep your own identity! Private can do better than this.

Sorry..for my criticism, but this is the way I feel, and I guess..more customers...

I agree with the above posts. My prob is I was a private shop member and it was safe and reliable and easy to find what I was looking for. I had previously signed up to VOD but didn't like it as I was getting too many emails sent to my inbox. I asked to canc and now I cant sign up as it states that my email address is already used. I know have no way of buying private shop goods, esp DVD's as I can't sign up or it wont let me. Also, there are some movies that I want to buy but it says I have to pay by the minute. I miss the old shop a lot and not been able to buy anything since this has happened.

It seems that things are a little less than straightforward - getting people
to purchase a movie but in fact only have a right to view rather than download.

The private site was always the trustworthy one, shame it has taken a nose dive.

Honestly I prefered the old site.. it felt more user friendly and had the Private touch. What we have now is a walmart. I miss the pictures too.

I agree it was a Private site and I bought Private DVD's from there. Now when I go on I'm liable to look at non Private films.

Just not the same and just not sure about the place.

I've still not bought anything yet. Can anyone say if they have bought stuff from the place that it has been delivered as per Private, in a box and hand delivered as opposed to the mail system. I just want to know it's safe and secure?

Still pretty safe but.... Earlier shipments were pretty quick, and as you say, hand delivered. Now I am still waiting for an order that was sent a month ago (I expect it to take another week or two) and I will have to pick it up at the post office.

Can`t say I see any good special offers either.. there are even other sites where you can buy Private DVDs at more reasonable prices, sometimes a lot cheaper. A shame since I`d like to remain a loyal Private.com customer.

This somehow reminds me of my employer: management decisions come and go, don't need any justification, will have to be fulfilled immediately, are very costly, and don't help anyone but the decision maker(s). In the end everybody is disappointed, a lot of money is wasted, jobs are lost, and customers back away. Pity that this game is also played in the porn industry.

Cirdan, let me get this right, you have waited a month for something that you bought and you have to pick it up at the post office? This is the kinda thing I'm dreading. I bought 3 DVD's from another place and they were sent in seperate jiffy bags. Two arrived and one hasn't. I know what the post office is like and this is something that never happened with Private. It was safe and secure and hand delivered, so not postie stealing anything I may have bought.

I was going to buy a couple of DVD's from the shop but really what is the point now.

The old shop also had the nice free shipping for orders over 100 euro, which I always made use of. Can`t say I see anything like this now, at least not for international shipping?
