Review of ‘The Milf Café’


In recent years the word ‘milf’ (an acronym for ‘mother I’d like to fuck’) has entered the lexicon not only of porn but of laddish discourse generally as a favourable term denoting any woman considered to be more mature but remaining desirable. (I’m not even sure that motherhood is necessarily a prerequisite of being called a ‘milf’ anymore.) It’s a term which fairly describes the women of ‘The Milf Café’, J. F. Romagnoli’s latest movie for Private. Having said that, the hostess of The Milf Café, Mandy Bright, has a long association with Private as a leading star, and I do have some mixed feelings about seeing her cast under the ‘milf’ classification now: I suppose it’s time, but I still prefer to think of her as bigger than any niche label she might become stuck with. And arguably performers like Kathy Sweet, Kristi Lust and Mya Diamond don’t need the ‘milf’ tag defining their image just yet, as they remain hot by any standard.

In an interview about ‘The Milf Café’, Romagnoli has stated that, “I wanted to show sex in a realistic way with hot women you can encounter in normal life.” One of the connotations of the term ‘milf’ has become a sort of sexiness associated with ‘real life’ - with a lifestyle context of commitments, complications and responsibilities which tend to go with being older. But Romagnoli shows his ‘milfs’ in only one context, the context of the porn fantasy. The Milf Café is a bar-cum-restaurant owned by mature women and specialising in sexual services for ‘milfs’ provided by a male team of bartenders and waiters. Like their younger counterparts in other porn movies, the women of The Milf Café have only one thing on their minds - getting laid! And in answer to Romagnoli’s point about “normal life”, I’d say that, when it comes to desirability and glamour, most of his female cast would stand head-and-shoulders above the women patrons of the cafes, bars and restaurants where I come from!

‘Milf’ porn has undoubtedly become very popular. For fans of that genre, this is definitely a must-see movie. But I guess what I’ve been saying is that you don’t have to be a card-carrying devotee of porn with more mature women to find ‘The Milf Café’ a turn-on.
