i'm sorry i have been a private member and fan for years but the member site "improvements" are a con.. first last week we had 20+ years of magazines now we have a couple of years and you can't even view a full page..plus the set up is awful.. the movies are all over the place and less than we had last week..there is no sextras section which many people enjoyed especially the backstage shoots ..now all gone..and the stars section is a joke..last week if i wanted a picture set of a particular girl there was probably 2 or 3 photosets.. now all we get is a series of movie stills.. its very easy to say updating 3 times a day when all you are updating is old content that we had last week ..
so let me get this straight.. my membership now buys me less content, presented poorly than it did last week and it will take another year to get the old content back... i want my old site back or my money back!!!

I totally agree. This is crap. Ten years ago, Private.com was the best porn website in the world, with loads of lovely content. Now, you can find free sites that are better. In addition, it is unbearably slow.

wow, so much negative feedback. Guys, give the team a couple of weeks to improve the site. They have done a great job in revamping the all look and feel. I am sure, we will get all content back shortly.

Well heeledmarc, like mermelade said, we will NOT get all the content back shortly. The new Private site is a non-fat no-taste 'Private lite', with a tiny fraction of all the content that the old one had. There are no plans of returning the missing stuff shortly; -some of it may come in small amounts, so-called 'updates', for years to come. Without Private having to produce any new material.

At least, we got a lovely blue ocean in the background. Some of you may think that is a good substitute for lots and lots of porn.

Nowadays, the site is terribly slow, with errors and empty links every other minute. I trust that these flaws will be fixed soon. But will the new site ever be worth the money? I don't think so, if the Private team won't change its policy.

I'm afraid that I agree with a lot of the above comments. So far, on present showing, the old site was much better and the reduction in content is not going to retain members (certainly not this one). Access to the old site needs to be maintained as a permanent feature for the pre launch members. There are a lot of errors in the new site; it's not even Beta quality yet.

I hope Private can sort this.

For us loyal members, who have paid our money a year in advance, the new site is a massive con, leaving aside the woeful performance.

The massive reduction in content would almost constitute fraud in other contexts. It's not enough to make the old site available "for a limited period". I've paid for the old site content and I therfore want it made available for the remainder of my subscription period.

You are getting this badly wrong Private. Please think again (and I'd also replace the IT person responsible for the debacle).

There are valid opinions from all with regards to the new site ranging from the content of the site and quality of downloads (e.g., Mrvicarious) but the new site does have some good improvements. Indeed,. the improvements give private the potential to reclaim it's past history of high standards in adult entertainment.

What appears to be the major issue is that Private has launched the site far too early. I'm not sure if web masters need to be sacked; rather new members should also be offered access to the old site until the new site is finished and problems with quality rectified.

I've just joined and I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed. I expected large, quality pictures and there doesn't seem to be any. I expected access to magazine pictures going back to 1965 but instead find out (after I'd joined) that the magazine 'archive' only goes back seven years and that these pics are quite small compared to my PC screen. They don't even appear to be the full picture either but are cropped.
I did join Private's website a few years back and it was far far better. What has happened???
I expected much better from the world's number one porn company.

"Private has recently relaunched its website, but with a dramatic reduction in content and with the vast bulk of its archive no longer available. It remains to be seen whether all the classic photosets and other goodies will be eventually restored.

Does Private want to 're-boot' its brand image and consign its back-catalogue to inaccessible history - behaving as if the pornography of the past, however good, is ultimately disposable (and in that sense unlike the classic texts of mainstream media such as TV and film, which can be repeatedly enjoyed through different generations)? Or are the cynics right in thinking that Private's intention for its website is, over time, to phase back in the old material as 'update' substitutes for a full range of brand new content? Maybe it's simply the case that there was a strategic error in timing, with the new site launched too early - before enough work had been done to assimilate the bulk of the classic content to the new and more user-friendly format / categories.

One consequence of the new launch is the redundancy of a lot of forum threads which included fans' hotlinks to pictures from the old site with painstaking commentaries to accompany them. Most of these threads had been dormant for a long while, with no new readers checking them out, so arguably their redundancy is no great loss. But it does feel like the end of an era, all the same, with the forum as well as the website venturing into a brave new world, leaving behind a pile of precious baggage... here's to the future!"

So, if you'd be so kind as to issue me a username/password that gives me access to that content within 24 hours, then I won't have to cancel and report this bait-and-switch to every review site I can find, starting with Pornliving, TheBestPorn, RabbitsReviews, and on down the line. Okay? How about that?

I have been a signed up member for a few years on the private.com site - and I am also about to cancel my monthly membership. The old site was a bit clunky but at least it had regular movie updates and access to all the old mags.
The new site has sacrificed that content for a slicker interface but a lot of the movies have gone, there seem to be less updates, and the resolution (as mentioned in other threads) is still way behind other sites. And to advertise access to all magazines back to the first issues when most of it is simply not there is misleading at best - not what I expect from Private.

I have given it a few weeks but there have been no explanations or commitments to fix or improve things. So I am voting with my feet! I will check back here on the forums occasionally to see if things improve. But for now I am going to check out some of the other sites mentioned earlier in the thread.

I'm sure Private will eventually address the issues raised. More people should come forward and express their dissapointment with the volume of porn and to express concerns in relation to their prospects of downloading movie clips as a permanant fixture on the computer.

Doing the wrong thing by devoted custromers will eventually create less enthusiasm for the product. It must be embarrassing for private which has such a fine history of providing a quality product which is now seriously compromised.

I have now cancelled my subscription - I left a short (but not flamey) message explaining why but I don't expect a reply.

From Mermalades comments I don't think she has had much input with regard to how this has been done. The decisions have come from higher up and whether it's deliberate or just released too early it's a cock-up for both long-time members and anyone new as almost all the comments in this thread show. I can almost hear the big boss saying "I know it's not ready yet but it's already late and the even bigger boss is on my back. Just launch it!"

At first I thought it looked great with all the new links and search features. But it didn't take long to find it was just a great new storefront with lots missing from the shelves once you get in. As for new members I think stllwtr13 has a very good point. I would feel cheated if I had just joined and we don't expect that from Private.

Nice pics by the way. That's one of the things which supports my cock-up theory. To say you have archive pics back to issue 1 of the magazines and then only give access to a small portion is really bad - especially when all the jpeg files are on the old site. I can't be that difficult to copy a few thousand images from one server to another - or if it is then someone didn't put enough thought into it before starting.

Whatever. I am having fun exploring new sites so for now at least, so long Private. Hope you get it right again one day.

I was previously a member and now rejoined again. I cant see any benefit in any of the features that they have added (not even sure what they are, sincing just arriving back). Having no archive material (the reason i joined again), I will also be leaving. Was a great sight with much material, now nothing really, extremely slow and hard to use. Only was to download full res pics is manually. How much time do we have?!?
