Re: the previous two messages. I, too, have just tried logging into the old private site and couldn't get back in.

Since the old site was announced as being only temporarily available, I have been in the process of saving the old 'Stars Photosets' as zipped folders and I've spent several hours over a number of sessions downloading them - but I haven't yet completed the task. I'd hate to think that these photosets were now gone for good. (The earliest 200 or so of the hundreds of 'Stars Photosets' hadn't been directly available for a while anyway - not through numbered page links. The only way to get to the thumbnail links for these earliest sets had been to type key words into the 'Stars Photoset' search engine, e.g. 'Tabitha Cash', 'Silvia Saint', 'Dorothy Lake', 'Alexa' - Cristina Bella's first stage name - or other 'genre' specific words / phrases such as 'Private', 'Triple X', 'hot', 'pussy', 'cum', etc.)

Fortunately for me, I'd already saved to my computer all the old magazines a long time ago.

No words of reassurance, yet, from the Private team re. the future accessibility of all that classic material - or the offer of an olive branch to the many new or returning members who had recently subscribed on the understanding that they would be accessing the complete archive?

One of Private's key selling points, at least online, has been the longevity of the brand and the implication that its large, excellent back catalogue is available for perusal. There are a few other well-established porn brands which also trade on a 'retro'/ 'nostalgia' ticket, but Private's superiority has always been based on its ability to boast excellent content both old and new.

Although the new site is growing in content, it still excludes far too much of what had been previously available, particularly in terms of photosets / magazines - inexplicably freezing an asset which, until this point, had distinguished Private so spectacularly from countless other ho-hum porn websites.

It would be good to hear directly from Fiona about this, and the other issues raised in this thread. She's now a VP at Private Media Group - having been promoted through customer services, marketing and oversight of online content. It may not be commensurate with her current role to interact on this forum as regularly as she once did - I guess that's now more Mermelade's job - but as VP she has a strategic responsibility.

One of the issues with opinions expressed on this forum is that the people who post here are only a tiny minority of Private's customers. We're a quiet forum even by forum standards. And in many ways we're probably untypical of the majority of Private customers. By and large, we behave like fans, sharing and celebrating a cultivated and close knowledge of the material. The silent majority of Private's customers would, I dare say, want to have no profile at all: they'd subscribe to the site or buy some of the products and enjoy them, but if they were dissatisfied they'd simply 'write off' their purchase as a mistake and move on, without making any fuss which might attract attention and risk compromising complete anonymity. For years, unscrupulous dealers have exploited the fact that the vast majority of porn consumers value total anonymity over any sort of assertion of their consumer rights. A main reason why Private is a leading brand is that it was one of the first pornographers to fully 'professionalise' / modernise its business and customer service.

Once in a while, an issue of 'customer satisfaction' arises of such significance that (i) people who would not normally post on the forum start do so, and (ii) the fans who post regularly probably DO start to represent the views of a larger customer base, becoming valid as a 'focus group'. I think that the development of this thread, with its various expressions of dissatisfaction, suggests that all the issues raised pertaining to the old site / new site transition are very significant - and not just the grumblings of one or two nostalgia buffs.

The last time something like this happened on the forum was back in 2004, when, owing to technical difficulties, there was a hiatus of several weeks with regard to magazine updates on the old website - this was at a time when Private had four magazines in regular production. When the issue was finally resolved, forum members agreed with administrators that the 'protest thread' was no longer relevant and that it could be deleted.

I hope there will be some kind of happy resolution on this occasion, too.

I concur with Baskkk's comments and I have voiced my concerns to other members privately. I emphasised to Private that recent postings from myself and others contained photo sets from magazine archives. For example without the old material Baskkk would not have posted his old euro bugger. Baskkk is spot on when he cites that Private is recognised by it's diversity of material and that this quality is compromised by the lack of material in the new site.

I also have questions relating to the seemingly reduction of membership privileges and sought clarification on Private's future plans to improve the new site. Private's lack of transparency in it's intentions for the new site is creating uncertainty for me and more than likely the bulk of other members.

I hope that we, the valued members, are given consideration in the matters raised in this forum.

I also miss the old site. One of Privates best assets were the magazines going back to the 60's, and very high quality porn over the years. It is sad that the financial crisis is bring this to an end with no new magazines and video productions reduced to compilations. I wish Mr. Milton to reconsider some of the management decisions. Yupp HoneySuckle is right were is the old Private i used to buy all Private production before Penthouse up until Ibiza Sex Party. Now none, 1 or 2 if that.

I think it will take Private some time (I expect about 2 years) to turn the fortunes of the company around. I suspect that Private's hiatus occurred sometime during the early turn of the century. During that time, the company was enjoying the wave of success of the late 80s and throughout the 90s.

Many fans describe this as the best years of Private. Master and loyal pornsters like Mason, Baask, Heels, Silvia Saint megafan, Grumps, Dutchy and my good friend Cirdan just to name a few would agree that during the height of their success, Private became complacent and are only now catching up to the competition, Private are not the ground breaking company they used to be and they have thankfully acknowledged that.

I think that finally Private is making a cumnack and it is time to rally support for Private's new directions. Private will be number 1 again

Very true words Beach, Private needs to focus on QUALITY like they used to. I think the focus lately has been on cutting costs and the result is disappointing to longtime loyal fans. Private fans are a loyal bunch, but we also demand the best. I want the shop to feel like a second home, not a wal-mart. When I buy a DVD I expect crisp images and flawless editing, not a mangled heap of pixels that makes you think it was produced in the cellars of Stalingrad during the worst years of WW2.
And yes, we want acess to the old material, all of it. I am not too big on magazines, but where are the classic scenes from later releases of Private stories and Triple X video? Those treasures should not be buried and forgotten.

Cirdan is right on I think. Private had such a good run starting in the 90's with the Private Video series, which used to command a premium over other producers, and then again in the 00's with mega productions, and a crop of really talented performers who gave a luster of exclusivity and premium image over others. It was the first adult movie company to be listed in the Nasdaq stock market. Somewhere along things got bad but it is difficult to pinpoint exactly at. Anyways, Private has such a trove of classic materials and class that I think it will re-invent itself to become the top company it seemed destined to be so. My 2 cents is to keep looking hard for new talents and hire good directors, those with artistic sense. Good products should lead the way, just look at Apple.
